Placing Holds
To reserve an item online, search the catalog and select the title you would like to reserve. Type in your library barcode and PIN. You will then be given instructions to complete the process. You will receive an email, text message, or phone call when the item is available for you. Once an item becomes available for pickup, it is held for five library business days before the hold expires.
Overdue Materials
DeWitt District Library is fine free! This means no fees will be placed on an account for library materials that are returned late. Fees are still assessed for damaged or lost items
Lost or Damaged Materials
We are grateful for items returned on time and in good condition, but we know that accidents happen. If a borrowed item is lost or damaged, don’t hesitate to reach out to us! We are happy to discuss your options with you and help you keep your Library card in good standing.
Borrowers may be charged for materials deemed to be lost or damaged beyond repair. Per Library policy, material replacements must be approved before being accepted. Accounts with replacement charges of $10.00 or higher are blocked until the charge is paid– then the card is returned to good standing.
Payment Options
When a fee is incurred, it may be paid at the Service Desk by cash, check, or credit card.
Managing Your Library Account
Accessing Your Account
Clicking the My Account button at the very top of our website will provide access to your library account where you can review the due dates of your checked out materials or to renew items online.
What's my PIN?
Your library PIN is a number you choose when signing up for a library card. The pin is used to access your library account online and to place holds on items in the library's catalog. PINs can only be given out in person or via email. Once you access the system with your PIN, you can change the PIN to your preference.
