Who lived
where and when? Where was a business and when? This database
contains that information. It will always be a work in progress.
I have started with the 48879 zip code and add others as I find them.
You have search capabilities for a NAME, POSTAL/HOUSE NUMBER, or STREET
NAME. The SOURCE column key consists of: Census records (C), City/County documents (CD), City directories (D), Death Certificates (DC), History book (HB), Miscellaneous (M), Newspaper (N), Photo (P), Plat map (PM), Sanborn map (SM). The PROPERTY TYPE column key consists of: Apartment (A), Business (B), City/County Office (C), Church (CH), Hospital (H), Park (P), Trailer park (TP), Residence (R), School (S). If the STREET name has an * after it, that means at some point the name was changed. That column key is: BARKER became BAKER BRECKENRIDGE (W of Lansing St.) became W. BALDWIN CLINTON ST. (W of Lansing St.) became W MCCONNELL ELLA (W of Lansing St.) became DIBBLE and then PARK GIBBS AVE. became GILES ST. IONIA (W of Emmons) became W STATE ST / M-21 LAUREL (W of the courthouse) became W MAPLE / MAPLE AVE / MAPLE ST E MAPLE (E of the courthouse) became LINDEN AVE/ST ROGERS (W of Lansing St) became W CASS STEWART became S CLINTON AVE STOUT (W of Elm) became GIBBS ST TROWBRIDGE became CHURCH ST WHITTEMORE is also known as US-27 or BUS-127 If there is a blank area, it is because the information was not available. House/business numbers will/can change over the years because of new properties being added to the area. Soon (I hope) you will be able to see old and new photos of each address. That link will be provided when they are available. I'm sure there are typo's and errors so please let me know if you have questions or comments, to keep this as accurate as possible. I hope this helps in your research. Julie Peters, Director Clinton County Historical Society ARCHIVES (petersj@msu.edu) |
