Friends of the Library

The Friends of the DeWitt District Library is a non profit association supporting and enhancing the goals of the Library. We focus public attention on the services and needs of the Library. The Friends of the DDL seek to enhance the community and the Library by encouraging citizens of all ages to enjoy and support the Library. The Friends of the Library urge you to join the DeWitt District Library's growing circle of friends dedicated to continuing support of our community's most valued resource.

Friends Meetings

The Friends of the DeWitt District Library Board meets at 6:45 pm in the Library Historical room on the second Wednesday of each month. The meetings are open to the public.

Membership Information

We welcome your membership in the Friends of the DeWitt District Library. We currently have approximately 300 members, some of whom are actively involved in the organization and others who support the organization solely through their annual dues. Allof the money from our memberships and Book Sales goes to the Library for programs and materials above and beyond the Library budget. Please see Where Our Money Goes below to learn about recent Friends' gifts to the Library.

Interested in becoming a friend of the library? Complete a membership form at the Circulation Desk.

Book Sales

The Friends of the DeWitt District Library hold Book Sales twice yearly. Thousands of books, sorted by category, are offered for sale. Members of the Friends are invited to the Friday evening preview night where they get first choice of the items on sale.

The Friends raise upwards of $1000 at each sale. All of the money goes to the Library for programs and materials over and above the Library budget. Please see Where Our Money Goes below to learn about recent Friends' gifts to the Library.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers staff the Book Sales. To volunteer to sort books or work at a sale, please e-mail Lael Lineberry.

Book Sale Donations

All of the items we sell are donated. Tax deductible donations of books, CDs, DVDs, GameBoys, etc. are always accepted at the Library. Donations may be left at the Main Library, in the hallway next to the public restrooms. Ask for a tax receipt at the Circulation Desk.

The Friends will accept books and media in excellent to good condition.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS AND SUPPORT OF OUR BOOK SALES!
